Help! My cats are not warming up to new cat!?
I have two cats. One is Lola who is 3 years old and the other is her son MoMo who is one year old. I have had them since MoMo was 2 months old. Recently, I found a sweet cat in the streets. It started snowing here so I took her in and decided I was going to take care of her. I knew my cats would object to her but I didn’t realize it was so hard. At first I kept the new cat, Sweety, in my room with food and litter. Every once awhile I took her out. Lola would attack her on the spot. Mo, well he went up to Sweety to say hi but she hissed at him. Everytime Lola and Sweety fight, MoMo gets real scared. He runs away or hides. He walks real slow all the time and I haven’t seen him eat. Also, Lola attacks Mo and hisses at him. Its been six days and I am not sure what to do. I love the new cat a lot but my Lola is stressed out completely. I want to keep Sweety. She is very sweet to me and way adorable but I am just not sure what to do. Any suggestions?

Forget the holistic stuff - in my opinion, that’s just a way to harvest money from the gullible.

Keep the new cat isolated when you’re not around. A closed bedroom or bathroom is fine. The cats will sniff each other under the door, but that’s good. Every day when you’re home, take the new cat out for awhile and hold her, and let the others smell her and see her. Then shut the older cats up in another room (not the one where the kitten stays) and let the kitten roam the house. This will get her smell around where the older cats are used to being, and they’ll smell her even when she’s not around. This gets them used to her smell and presence.

After another week or so of this, let the kitten out and down on the ground, in the presence of the other cats. There may be some hissing, but hopefully no fighting. Increase the amount of time you let them spend with each other. At some point, maybe 2-5 weeks from now, you will be able to go to school/work/wherever, and leave the kitten out.

It will take time for them to adapt, and don’t expect them to be friends or to bathe each other, at least for quite some time. But gradual exposure will get them to tolerate each other.

Here’s how we introduce newcomers to our gang:

Cats need to be introduced very slowly.

First of all, we do not allow a new cat to have any contact with our other cats until a vet has given the new cat a clean bill of health. This includes tests for such things as FIP and Feline Leukemia.

Cats can be successfully introduced to each other regardless of their ages or sexes.

We have successfully added adult cats to our family containing both young and old cats as well as introducing very young kittens to the other cats.

It has to be done slowly. If you simply put them together, you will have behavioral problems the vast majority of times.

The new cat has to be given time to get used to you and the new environment - don’t try to introduce the new cat to the new home, to you, and to the other cats all at once. Do it in stages.

Also, the existing cat has to get used to the smell of the new cat.

We introduce cats by keeping the new cat in the back room for up to a month. My office is there as is my wife’s sewing table. There is a sofa and bookshelves.

We spend a lot of time with the new cat to get them used to us, the new environment and the new smells.

After they accept us with no problems, we put a screen door on the back room door frame and let everyone see each other for a week or so.

It may take a lot less time than a month to get to this point but we just take it slow and easy.

Once we judge it safe to do so, we let the new cats out into the house and chaperon the first encounters.

We’ve only ever had one problem introducing cats like this and that problem was resolved in a couple of weeks.

We’ve had 26 cats over the past 22 years and many of them were adults - 12 and older - when they joined our family.

We’ve also introduced several kittens, ranging from ages of 7 weeks to 4 or 5 months, to the rest of the crew with no problems.

You have to take it slow.

If you can’t put up a screen door, perhaps two baby gates, stacked one on top of the other, will close off the door but still allow the cats to see each other.

If you can’t use a screen door or baby gates, try letting the existing cat into the room with the new cat for a few minutes while you chaperon.

If things get bad, take the cat out of the room.

You just have to introduce cats slowly

There are cats who could be thrown together and become pals but they are few and far between.

It shouldn’t be that difficult to get a replacement birth certificate. Go to, or call, the government offices which store these documents and ask for information. I live in the USA, but anyone can get a certified copy of a birth certificate, they just have to pay for it.

The birth certificate is not an issue at all. She is the mother, and is on record as such at the department of vital statistics… or whatever it is called in the UK. All she has to do is go in with her ID and order a new one. There may be a small charge for it… I’m unsure of that.

This all sounds like a bad made for TV movie, to be honest… but mothers have rights and the courts are there to help them keep those rights

hey u see i remember when i was little watching halloween (all of them) i remember that there was some bogeyman in the movie and i don’t remember what halloween movie it was it was but i do remember that it had to do with a baby that had a curse mark on his belly and that person who gived him that curse mark was some guy in black

In the 3rd film they were preparing to give "thorn" to a boy named Danny, the son of the female protagonist Kara, by having Michael kill his final victim, Jamie Lloyd’s baby, and a lose his powers of invincibility as a result. Then thorn would go to Danny and he would kill his mother as his first victim.

Confusing isn’t it? just imagine watching it play out on screen. The storyline was used mainly in Halloween 4-6. That was when the Halloween movies definitely took a turn for the worse.

The cult storyline was used in Halloween 4-6 but only really used as a main plot point in Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers.

Is "The Hudsucker Proxy" considered to be one of the all-time greatest films by anyone other than myself?
This Coen Bros. classic was largely overlooked owing to it’s wierd title, for starters. Tim Robbins, Paul Newman, Jennifer
Jason-Leigh…all tremendous performances. What about this movie makes it a personal favorite of yours?
Ok, for the curious and Valerie C, Hudsucker Proxy came out long ago, maybe ‘95, and, like Raising Arizona, the camera perspective shots are abundantly generous and unique.
I’m a musician, and this movie has my #1 vote for "compellingly driven by the soundtrack." I never buy a movie soundtrack just for the music (except Breakfast at Tiffany’s), but I would own this one, and it exists. But mostly, the fascination here is PLOT. You can’t miss the way the music is central to the storytelling. It’s dramatic and hilarious at the same time. Look for John Mahoney (Frasier’s Dad) as a central
character. I nearly weep at the brilliance of this production. And the ultimate stuggle between good and evil?…no good movie should NOT have one, and this movie delivers a grand slam.
Favorite Scenes: Tim Robbins at the job board…Two Taxi Drivers at the Lunch Counter…The Exotic Dream sequence at the advent of Norville’s morality shift….

You’re right about the performances too. Tim Robbins and Jennifer Jason-Leigh were never funnier. Paul Newman is very good too. And I love the elevator operator who calls everyone ‘Buddy’.

The Coehn Bros. are geniuses. They have a wonderful gift for storytelling in unconventional ways, ways that can only be done in films (I guess you would call that ‘cinematic technique’). I think their work is a little over the heads of a lot of viewers. I think The Hudsucker Proxy will be remembered very well in 30 years when most other movies of its time are forgotten. Fargo and The Big Lebowsky are also brilliant films. And O Brother Where Art Thou.
